Liberia Football Association (LFA) President Mustapha Raji has praised the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for honoring his request to conduct a medical course for doctors and medics in Liberia.

Raji said he will continue to push for trainings at all levels within CAF and FIFA.

He urged the participants to make maximum use of the training for the betterment of sports because the knowledge gained can also be applied to other athletes.
Raji was speaking at the Samuel Kanyon Doe (SKD) sports complex in Paynesville on 24 August.

“Don’t be ashamed to ask questions. You are representing 4.5 million people, including thousands of footballers and athletes, who you treat every day.

“We will continue to engage CAF and FIFA to bring in the necessary experts to work with our local experts to help develop football at all levels because sports medicines is part of the four pillars of football development.

“By the authority vested in me as LFA president, I hereby declare this course officially opened,” said Raji.

The course is being facilitated by CAF medical committee member Yasser Abdel Rahman of Egypt, who is professor of cardiology and CAF medical manager Dr. Boubakary Sidiki of Cameroon.

“You have a good president. He pushed CAF that medical committee to hold this workshop when he was in Morocco for the women’s Africa Cup of Nations finals.

“We want to thank CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe and members of the executive and medical committees for allowing us to be here to share our knowledge and experience,” said Dr. Rahman.

Yasser and Boubakary will be assisted by the LFA medical committee, which is represented by Dr. Clarence Yaskey, chairman and Dr. Moses Tarawali, Dr. Torsou Jallabah, Dr. Philderald Pratt, Jumah Kollie (MPH) and David Zomo (BSN) as members.

It will bring together doctors and medics of the national teams, Liberia Sports Medics Association (LISMA) and clubs in the first, second and women’s upper divisions from 24-26 August.

Clubs, who will not honor this training, will be sanctioned in keeping with the club licensing regulations.
