Liberia forced Senegal to a 3-3 draw in the opening match of the 2022 West African Football Union (WAFU) men’s under-15 Nations Cup finals at the Samuel Kanyon Doe sports complex in Paynesville on 18 August.

Ibrahima Sow gave Senegal a nine minute lead and Yaya Meme made it 2-0 five minutes later.

Saah Moses put one back for Liberia in the 18th minute going into the break.

Back from recess, Moses Toe failed to convert a penalty and Abenigo Gborlee equalized in the 38th minute.

Yaya scored a brace by converting a penalty for Senegal and Lee Zoegar turned out to be the savior when he perfectly turned around inside the 18-yard box to slam home a fumble ball from goalkeeper Mohamed Diallo, who was one of the standout Senegalese players.

Sierra Leone thrashed Mauritania 6-0 in the second game, which was officiated by the Liberian FIFA-badged trio of Moses Forkpah (referee), Hannah Moses (assistant referee #1) and Tracy Chayee (assistant referee #2).

Liberia will take on Mauritania at 10:00AM on 19 August and Sierra Leone at 8:00AM on 21 August at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia respectively.
