Determine Girls and AS Mande drew 1-1 in the opening match of the CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU (West African Football Union) Zone ‘A’ qualifiers at the Samuel Kanyon Doe (SKD) sports complex in Paynesville on 17 August.

The Liberian champions took the lead thru Kanties Sayee in the 82nd minute but the defending champions quickly equalized thru Fatoumata Doumbia in the 90th minute.

The draw means the Liberians failed to avenge a 4-0 defeat handed by the Malians during the maiden edition in Cape Verde in 2021.

Sylla was named woman of the match, which was presented by Liberia Football Association (LFA) executive committee member Ivan Brown, who chairs the LFA technical and development committee and member of the local organizing committee.

LFA President Mustapha Raji, first Vice President Sekou Konneh, third Vice President Jodie Reid-Seton and executive committee member Nyemah Nyanway and Determine Girls President Grace Hawa Weah watched the match.

Mande will take on Union Sportive des Parcelles (USPA) at 4:00PM on 19 August.

Determine Girls will conclude their quest to qualify for the finals in Morocco when they take on USPA at 4:00PM on 21 August.
