Determined Girls lethal Guinean forward Bountu Sylla scooped the award for the best player after her side one all draw with AS Mande of Mali in the opener of CAF Women’s CL Zone A qualifiers at the SKD.

Sylla was heavily involved in the moment of the match that swung the game in Determined Girls favor with 8 minutes left, but the home side were pegged back in the 90th minute to draw 1-1.

Sylla picked up possession on the right before drifting in on her left foot mazily get pass four yellow shirts leaving her last marking on the floor before unleashing a right-footed close range shot that was blocked by the outstretched leg of goalkeeper Sadio Sow, but Kantie Sayee was at hand to guide the debris into a gapping net.

The late goal was a lift up for the home side but Sylla was unfortunate to be at the receiving end of a late draw after the Malians equalized with potentially the last kick of the game thanks to a Fatoumata Doumbia’s half volley at the back post.

The Guinean forward has been in blistering form all season punching the net a record of 56 times in the league as Determined Girls won both league and cup double last season.

They’re back in action on Sunday, 21 August against USPA of Senegal to close their campaign in an ambitious quest to play at the African Women’s CL finals in Morocco later this year.
